By Zagazola Makama

Troops of Operation UDO KA have arrested an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over his alleged involvement in the illegal supply of arms and ammunition to criminal elements in Ebonyi State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 12:30 p.m. on June 27 during an intelligence-led raid on a suspected criminal electronics repair workshop at Anyanko Market along the Abakaliki–Enugu Road in Abakaliki Local Government Area.

According to the sources, troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA, carried out the operation following credible intelligence linking the workshop to criminal activities within the area of responsibility.

During the raid, the NSCDC personnel attached to the Ebonyi State Command was arrested over allegations that he had been supplying arms and ammunition to criminal elements operating in the state.

The suspect reportedly volunteered useful information during preliminary interrogation, which led troops to conduct a follow-up search at his residence.

The suspect and the recovered weapons and ammunition have been taken into custody by the 82 Provost Group for further investigation and necessary administrative and legal action.
