Following a public strike movement celebrating the 81st birthday of popular leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in Saing Taung village, Hpakant Township, Kachin State, the Military Council troops fired heavy artillery, injuring 2 civilians and damaging a car workshop, according to local Hpakant sources.

On the morning of June 19, residents held a strike movement to mark Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's birthday in Saing Taung village, Hpakant Township.

Following this movement, at around 12:00 PM today, the Military Council troops stationed at the Hpakant Strategic Hill fired heavy artillery, which landed and exploded on a car workshop near the main bridge head in Ward 3, Saing Taung village. Due to the explosion, two men inside the shop sustained injuries and the workshop was damaged.
