On Monday evening, November 10, a police inspector working at the Regional Security Commission in the city of Ouled Teima was forced to use his service weapon during a security intervention to arrest a 25-year-old person with criminal records who was active in the promotion of drugs and psychotropic substances, after he subjected the police officers to a serious and dangerous attack using a bladed weapon.

According to a security source, judicial police officers intervened to arrest the suspect after he was caught red-handed promoting drugs in the “Shneinat” neighborhood of Oulad Teima, along with another suspect who managed to escape. However, he violently resisted and physically assaulted one of the police officers using a bladed weapon, which forced a police inspector to use his service weapon and fire several warning shots, before injuring the suspect in his lower extremities.

This necessary use of the service weapon enabled the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of a large knife that was in his possession, as well as the seizure of a quantity of hashish prepared for distribution, and a motorcycle suspected of being used in this criminal activity.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment, where he was kept under medical supervision pending his subjection to the judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to uncover all the circumstances surrounding the commission of these criminal acts, while investigations continue to arrest the second suspect involved in this case.
