June 17, the terrorist military column that had stayed overnight in Thayetkan and Ma Gyi Kan villages in Pale Township entered Pale town via military vehicles from Latt Taung Gyi village. Following this, around 11:00 AM, the column advanced further from Pale town into Mya Kone village, forcing the detained civilians to step on mines around the vicinity of Mya Kone village and using them as human shields.
