On the night of June 26, drones attacked the city of Novomoskovsk, Tula Oblast, Russia . According to preliminary data, the Azot chemical plant and a nearby power plant were hit . Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also reported on the threat of drones and the work of air defense.

A series of explosions rocked Novomoskovsk, Tula Oblast, Russia, overnight. According to eyewitnesses, drones were seen flying over the city for several hours, after which a column of black smoke rose above one of the districts.

According to preliminary data, the Azot chemical plant was hit. Local residents report an unusual smell of ammonia in the air, as well as power outages in the city.

"Novomoskovskaya Joint-Stock Company "Azot" is the largest producer of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers in Russia, as well as one of the leading enterprises in the industry in terms of the range and volume of products produced. The plant produces ammonia, nitric acid, methanol and mineral fertilizers, as well as chemical raw materials used in the production of explosives and ammunition. Since 2002, NJSC "Azot" has been part of the Eurochem holding.

It is also reported that the Novomoskovskaya DRES in the Tula region has been damaged. As a result of the attack, a large-scale fire was recorded on the territory of the station.

It is noted that Novomoskovskaya DRES, which is a structural unit of NJSC "Azot", has an electric capacity of 233.7 MW and a thermal capacity of 302.4 Gcal/h. The power plant, which employs 366 employees, provides hot water and heating to social infrastructure and more than half (60%) of the city's residential buildings.

Tula Region Governor Dmitry Milyaev confirmed the UAV attack on the city. According to him, damage was recorded to a power line and one of the industrial enterprises in Novomoskovsk. A private residential building was also damaged.

In addition, a drone attack was reported in the city of Ozyory, Moscow Region. According to local residents, the private sector suffered damage as a result of air defense operations.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that air defense forces allegedly shot down 47 drones flying towards the Russian capital.

"Emergency services specialists are working at the site of the debris fall," Sobyanin wrote.
