On June 24, Police arrested two accused, Amandeep Singh and Gurpreet Singh, involved in the recent firing incident and recovered two illegal pistols, 15 live cartridges, 100 grams of heroin and 20 grams of ice from their possession at the New Vegetable Market in Maqsudan in Jalandhar District of Punjab, reports The Tribune. Police received a tip-off on June 22 regarding Amandeep Singh carrying illegal firearms on Gazipur Road. Acting on the information, a police team apprehended him and recovered a .30-bore pistol, a .32-bore pistol and 10 live cartridges. During interrogation, Amandeep disclosed the involvement of his associate Gurpreet Singh. He further revealed that the .30-bore pistol had been used in the Maqsudan firing incident in which Monu Puri sustained a gunshot injury to his leg. Based on the disclosure, police arrested Gurpreet Singh. During police remand, authorities recovered an additional 100 grams of heroin, 20 grams of ice and five more live .32-bore cartridges. Preliminary investigations revealed that both accused have criminal backgrounds, including involvement in murder cases, and are alleged associates of gangster Sonu Khatri.
