On June 24, Police arrested four accused and a juvenile in connection with the Amarpura Basti attack in Bathinda District of Punjab on June 22, reports The Tribune. Police stated that the violence stemmed from an old rivalry and was not linked to drug trafficking. According to residents, around 15-armed men attacked multiple houses in Amarpura Basti, damaged CCTV cameras, and injured a youth. Locals alleged that the attackers threatened residents and that the violence was linked to a complaint filed against alleged drug peddlers two months earlier.
