On June 24, United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) cadre Sujan Chakma, 48, was shot dead in the Murapara area of Babuchhara in Dighinala Upazila (Sub-District), reports The Daily Star. The UPDF blamed Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS-Santu Larma) for the incident. PCJSS denied the allegations. Dighinala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Bahar said Sujan Chakma was sitting at a shop in Murapara of Babuchhara when four to five masked men arrived on motorcycles, opened fire, and fled. UPDF (Prasit) spokesperson Angya Marma, in a statement, confirmed the two incidents and expressed condemnation and protest.
