SAA event in Khagrachari, Premtola, Ramgarh Sub-District area, Bangladesh on Wed 24th June 2026

On June 24, a cadre of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF-Prasit), Bobin Tripura, was shot dead, reportedly in a clash with security forces (SFs) in the remote Premtola area of Ramgarh Upazila (Sub-District) of Khagrachhari District, reports The Daily Star. The organisation claimed another member, Mongsanu Marma, alias Jibon, 29, was injured and detained in that condition. Ramgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nazir Alam also confirmed the incident and said that, as the location is a remote area, the SFs have not yet handed over the body of the deceased or the detained individual to Police. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in its statement, said, “Yesterday (June 23) at around 2:00pm in Panchhari upazila of Khagrachhari, and today (June 24) at around 10:00am in Ramgarh upazila, the Bangladesh Army conducted two separate successful operations against armed terrorist groups. During the operations, members of the armed organisation opened fire on the army, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the two sides. Subsequently, in the Barkalak area of Panchhari upazila, two members of the armed group surrendered with two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and 132 rounds of ammunition…Meanwhile, in another operation conducted in the Hajachhara area of Ramgarh upazila, one member of the armed group was killed during an exchange of fire. Later, one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, one pipe gun, 27 rounds of ammunition, and other materials were recovered from the scene.”
