On 17 July 2021, members of the Mozambican forces in Mitope (Mocimboa da Praia, Cabo Delgado) clashed with members of an Islamist militia after they attacked civilians in the village. One Mi-25 helicopter fired rockets at the members of the Islamist militia. One person was killed, decapitated by the Islamist militia.
