On 13 June 2026, a man lit a small explosive device outside the home of Alderperson Byron Sigcho-Lopez in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago - West Side (Illinois). It exploded, creating a cloud of smoke, shattering a window of his home, and triggering a car alarm. Sigcho-Lopez and his family were at home at the time. Sigcho-Lopez described the device as a 'bomb,' while police described it as a 'suspected firework.' No injuries or fatalities.
