On 16 June 2026, suspected Malay Muslim separatists detonated an improvised explosive device targeting a military patrol unit in To-O village, Kayu Khla, Waeng (Narathiwat). The attack occurred while soldiers were conducting a patrol mission in support of another border protection unit. One soldier was injured, suffering chest pain and a ruptured eardrum from the blast.
