On 16 June 2026, ISIL members detonated a sticky explosive device on the vehicle of the head of the Justice Palace Department in Babella town while he was passing through Daff al Shok neighborhood within Damascus - Al-Midan neighborhood in Damascus city for unknown reasons, seriously injuring the targeted official and resulting in the amputation of one of his legs . Sources claimed that police forces subsequently imposed a security cordon around the site of the explosion. On 17 June 2026, ISIL claimed responsibility for the attack through its social media channels. There were no fatalities.
