On 16 June 2026, an unknown armed group (likely Al Shabaab due to the use of a IEDs, which is exclusively associated with the group's operations in Middle Shabelle region based on recorded incidents) threw hand grenades and exploded IEDs in Faanoole area of Horseed neighborhood in Jowhar town (Jowhar, Middle Shabelle). There was no damage, and there were no casualties.
