On 18 June 2026, the Ukrainian military launched a drone attack on Moscow - South-Eastern (Yugo-Vostochnyy, Moscow), hitting the Kapotnya oil refinery, setting fire to the distillation unit and fuel tank storage area. Videos published online show the roof of 1 storage tank blown into the air from the drone impact, which was later identified to be caused by Russian air defenses attempting to intercept Ukrainian drones. The oil refinery provides 40% of Moscow's fuel and 70% of the Moscow Oblast's gasoline and aviation fuel. Intercepted drone debris also hit the Sadovod shopping centre, injuring 1 person.
