On 15 June 2026, an IED suspected of being planted by a Zamfara militia exploded, killing 3 police officers along the Anka-Bagega Road, coded to the closest populated area, Bagega (Anka, Zamfara). The police from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit were carrying out a controlled clearance using an armored personnel carrier when the vehicle accidentally set off the explosive device.
