On 11 July 2021, a rocket suspected to have been fired by pro-Iran militia groups landed in the vicinity of Omar - Oil Fields area, controlled by the Global Coalition in Deir-ez-Zor. The Global Coalition said the event was a controlled explosion, denying an attack took place. Neither fatalities nor injuries were reported.
