Troops Foil Terrorist Movement in Zamfara, Recover Arms and Items

Troops of 1 Brigade, in collaboration with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, have successfully conducted an ambush operation against suspected terrorists at Gamdanda village in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Military sources said the operation took place at about 6:59 p.m. on June 19, when the troops laid an ambush along suspected terrorist movement routes in the area.

According to the sources, contact was made with the suspected terrorists, leading to a brief exchange of fire during which the armed group fled the scene.

Following the encounter, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, eight motorcycles, a desert jungle hat, and assorted food items.

The troops have continued clearance operations in the general area to prevent regrouping of the fleeing elements and to deny them freedom of action.

Authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on criminal groups across the region.
