Gunmen Abduct Man in Anambra, Police Launch Rescue Operation

The Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for armed men who abducted a man in Ogbunike area of the state.

Police sources said the incident occurred at about 1600 hours on June 21 at Y Junction, following a report received by the 3-3 Division at about 1630 hours from Godwin Ude of Amawo Village, Ogbunike.

According to the report, the victim, identified as Victor Godwin, who resides in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, was abducted by four armed men allegedly dressed in military camouflage and armed with AK-47 rifles.

The suspects were said to have operated in a black Toyota Tundra, whose registration number was not yet known.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the gunmen forced the victim out of his white Lexus 250 saloon car before whisking him away to an unknown destination.

Following the incident, police tactical teams were immediately deployed and are currently on the trail of the suspects in an effort to rescue the victim and arrest those responsible.

The victim’s Lexus 250 vehicle has since been recovered and taken to the police station for safekeeping.

Police authorities assured that intensive operations were ongoing to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the victim.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
