A senior Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer was killed when Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) cadres targeted him near Ahmed Wal Stop in Nushki city (Nushki District) of Balochistan on June 18, reports The Balochistan Post. Police identified the officer as Afzal Muhammad Hasni, who was serving as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the CTD. The BLA claimed responsibility for the killing. In a short statement issued to the media, BLA ‘spokesperson’ Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s cadres had killed Afzal Muhammad Hasni in an armed attack in Nushki Bazaar. The BLA said the operation was carried out by its Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS). Jeeyand Baloch alleged that the officer was directly involved in what the group called “Baloch genocide policies,” adding that a detailed statement would be issued later.
