SAA event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bannu District area, Pakistan on Sat 13th June 2026
13th June 2026
On June 13, Maulana Mishkat, a religious scholar and community figure, was shot dead in Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), in an incident local sources attributed to militants linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by Pakistani authorities as "Fitna al-Khawarij", reports Khyber Chronicles. According to the report, the killing occurred days after the cleric allegedly confronted a leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) during a public gathering, objecting to remarks critical of the Pakistani State and its institutions. The report claimed that Maulana Mishkat subsequently became a target of militants. No independent confirmation of the alleged PTM connection was available at the time of reporting. The assassination follows a series of attacks targeting tribal elders, religious scholars and community leaders who publicly oppose militant violence in KP.
