On June 12, a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader named Rafiqul Islam (35), also known as Dhakaiya Rafiq, was shot dead by miscreants in Kazipara Bazarin Mathabhanga area of ????Lunachara Police Station in Khulna District, reports Prothom Alo. Khulna Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (South Division) Rezaur Rahman said, "Today, after 12:30 pm, Rafiqul Islam was sitting in a market in a remote area of ????Lunachara Police Station. A miscreant wearing a helmet came on a motorcycle and shot him in the lower abdomen and fled. Local people rescued him and took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead."
