Grenade event in Odisha, Kandhamal District area, India on Thu 11th June 2026
11th June 2026
On June 11, Security Forces (SFs) recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dump in Kandhamal District of Odisha during a search operation launched on the basis of information provided by surrendered CPI-Maoist cadres, reports The Hans India. According to Kandhamal Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramendra Prasad, the operation was conducted in the Gangapadar, Kodamaha, Pajimaha, Tengeri and Balimaha areas. Recovered items included a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), firearms, 30 electric detonators and a grenade. The SP stated that combing and area domination operations were continuing across the district to locate additional Maoist hideouts and arms caches. Police assessed that the recovered explosives and weapons were intended for use by Maoist cadres against civilians and SFs. The seizure is regarded as a significant setback to Maoist operational capabilities in the area and follows sustained intelligence-led operations targeting residual Maoist networks in Odisha.
