SAA event in Punjab, Neshta, Amritsar District area, India on Sun 7th June 2026
7th June 2026
On June 7, Police arrested an individual, identified as Shamveer Gujar, and recovered a Glock pistol smuggled from Pakistan via drone delivery in Neshta village in the Gharinda area of Amritsar District of Punjab, reports The Tribune. Police said Gujar, who has two criminal cases against him, was in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through a foreign-based gangster who arranged the weapon. According to Punjab Police records, over 400 Pakistan-smuggled small arms were seized across the state in 2025. Following anti-drug and anti-gangster operations launched on March 1, 2025, Amritsar Police recovered around 325 pistols, mostly linked to Pakistan-based smuggling networks. The BSF reported a sharp rise in cross-border arms trafficking in 2025, with over 200 advanced weapons, including AK-47 rifles, seized. The AmritsarTarn Taran border sector, covering about 200 km and over 60 Border Outposts, has emerged as a key hotspot for drone-based weapons drops. Authorities say the influx of foreign-made firearms has fueled extortion, gang rivalry, and targeted killings, with drones increasingly replacing traditional infiltration routes.
