SAA event in Michoacán, Morelia area, Mexico on Thu 18th June 2026

A coordinated operation between state and federal authorities in Morelia , Michoacán , resulted in the arrest of two women caught in the act of extorting 25.3 million pesos from another citizen. The operation was launched immediately after a timely report was received through the emergency services system.

The tactical operation took place at the intersection of Fray Antonio de San Miguel Iglesias Avenue and Benefactor de Tiripetío Street , in the Jardines del Rincón neighborhood . At that location, law enforcement officers located the suspects as they were attempting to collect part of the illicit money, and immediately proceeded to neutralize and apprehend them.

The security operation was the result of a collaborative strategy between personnel from the federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Michoacán Civil Guard, and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE).

After controlling the situation and conducting a physical inspection of the site, the police officers confiscated the following logistical and military equipment used by the captured individuals:

A high-end car from the Mercedes-Benz brand.

A short firearm.

A magazine loaded with six live cartridges.

The two women arrested, along with the vehicle, the firearm and the ammunition, were transferred under institutional custody and placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor of the Attorney General's Office of the State.

The public prosecutor's office initiated the integration of the corresponding investigation file to proceed with the formal charge for the crime of aggravated extortion, determine the legal status of the accused, and trace calls and bank accounts to establish if there are more members involved in this criminal network.
