Satellite imagery has confirmed damage at the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Russia’s Tula region, following an attack on June 14. The findings are based on satellite images published by the Dnipro Osint ⟨ Harbuz ⟩ Telegram channel. Analysis of the imagery indicates that one of the facility’s production buildings, whose exact function is unknown, sustained extensive damage. The imagery also shows what appears to be minor damage to the Ammonia-4 production units, which manufacture ammonia and are designed for an annual capacity of 1.67 million tonnes. In addition, a storage tank located within the old dilute nitric acid production facility was destroyed. Satellite data from NASA’s FIRMS system detected an abnormal heat signature at the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk on June 14, 2026, indicating a fire at the facility As previously reported, Ukrainian Defense Forces strike drones targeted the Azot chemical plant during the night of June 13–14, 2026. NASA’s Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) recorded a significant temperature anomaly directly over the plant’s premises. According to the satellite data, a fire broke out at the site at 03:09 a.m. on June 14. The facility is located at coordinates 54.085675, 38.181503, approximately 350 kilometers (217 miles) from Ukraine’s state border. The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula region, is one of the largest chemical manufacturing enterprises in Russia. The facility is capable of producing chemical feedstocks for the manufacture of explosives. This was not the first time the plant has been targeted. On May 26, 2026, drones also struck the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk.
