GRANBY, Mo. — The Springfield Bomb Squad has been contacted after potentially dangerous materials were found in southwest Missouri.

Sheriff Matt Stewart with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed authorities found a container with reportedly old items labeled as explosives in the Granby area. After clearing the scene, the NCSO called the bomb squad out of Springfield to assist.

Officials did not provide an exact location, but motorists should avoid parts of the area that law enforcement has cordoned off during their investigation.
