Troops Recover RPGs, IEDs as Operation FANSAN YAMMA Routs Lakurawa Terrorists in Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recovered a cache of heavy-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other logistics equipment after overpowering suspected Lakurawa terrorists during an offensive operation in Kebbi State.

The operation was conducted on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji area of Dandi Local Government Area as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal elements operating across Nigeria’s North-West region.

According to military authorities, the troops engaged members of the Lakurawa terrorist group and brought superior firepower to bear on the insurgents, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee the area.

A subsequent pursuit of the fleeing suspects along their withdrawal routes led to the recovery of a large quantity of weapons, explosives, and other items believed to have been abandoned by the terrorists.

Items recovered during the operation included rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles allegedly used by the terrorists for movement, battery chargers, and other personal effects.

Military sources said no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.

The Nigerian Army described the operation as another significant step in ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks in the North-West and restore security across affected communities.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal groups, denying them freedom of movement and disrupting their activities to protect lives and property.

The statement was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
