On 11 June 2026, suspected Malay Muslim separatists detonated an improvised explosive device targeting the convoy of the Mayo district chief in Khok Ko village, Lubo Yiri, Mayo (Pattani) as he was returning from presiding over a local football event. The convoy consisted of three vehicles carrying district administration officials and village defense volunteers. The blast damaged vehicles and injured six members of the Volunteer Defense Corps.
