On 12 June 2026, at night, Russian Forces conducted massive drone strikes on the railway infrastructure facility in the Shostkynska community (coded to Shostka, Sumy). As a result, a 44-year-old woman (railway employee) was killed and another 33-year-old woman was seriously injured and later died in the hospital. A three-story non-residential building sustained significant destruction and damage. Moreover, a school building, private residential buildings, and outbuildings were damaged.
