An ambush by vile assassins against members of the Mexican Army left three soldiers wounded in the Sierra-Costa region of Michoacán .
The attack occurred within the framework of federal operations deployed in the area and following a series of strategic blows against the logistical structures of the filthy groups that operate on the borders of the municipalities of Chinicuila and Aquila .
Military personnel were conducting preventative patrols when they were ambushed by a group of heavily armed civilians. As a result of the exchange of gunfire, three soldiers were wounded; preliminary reports indicate that one of the service members is in serious condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to his limbs and torso, and was therefore urgently transferred to receive specialized medical care.
This attack occurred just hours after personnel from the National Defense Secretariat located and raided several criminal hideouts in the same mountain range. In an initial tactical incursion, soldiers discovered three makeshift camps that, according to intelligence reports, were being used by members of organized crime as operational, observation, and safe havens.
In a parallel operation in the same area, federal forces located another, larger clandestine camp. At this site, they seized 60 improvised explosive devices, 21 kilograms of marijuana, five kilograms of ammonium nitrate—a chemical used in the manufacture of explosives—two tactical vests, counterfeit military-style camouflage uniforms, and a vehicle with improvised armor , colloquially known as a " monster ."
Due to the hazardous nature of the material found, explosives experts from the armed forces intervened at the scene to neutralize and securely secure the devices. The remaining vehicle evidence, tactical equipment, and narcotics were turned over to the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office to initiate the corresponding investigation.
In immediate response to the ambush against the military contingent, the Federal Government ordered the deployment of a reinforced ground and air operation throughout the Sierra-Costa region, with the participation of the National Guard and state police forces. The search efforts aim to locate the criminal cells responsible for the attack and strengthen security in this strategic corridor in western Mexico. No arrests have been reported so far.
