On 13 July 2021, an IED by suspected Al Shabaab militants attached to the vehicle of a Jubaland soldier detonated in Afmadow junction of Kismayo town (Kismaayo, Lower Juba). The soldier was a former Al Shabaab defector. No fatalities and/or injuries reported.
