On 12 July 2021, in Sao Goncalo, Rio de Janeiro, three armed suspects blew up a gas station safe in the Mutua neighborhood. One set of explosives damaged the building and they used a second set to blow up the safe, but it failed, and the suspects escaped. During the attempt, the venue's workers were held as hostages.
