On 31 May 2026, an IED suspected of having been planted by ISWAP detonated along Buni Gari-Biu Road, coded to the midpoint between Buni Gari and the Borno border, Maza (Gujba, Yobe), killing 1 woman and injuring her husband. The husband was transporting his wife on a bicycle heading to Azare when the explosive detonated under their bicycle.
