In Falam Township, Chin State, a local man was killed on the spot after stepping on a landmine planted by Military Council troops, according to local residents who spoke to Shwe Phee Myay.

The mine explosion occurred yesterday on June 5, and the deceased has been identified as U Hrang No Thang, a local resident living in Zar Line Village, Falam Township.

The accident happened when he stepped on a military-planted landmine while cleaning up the area around his house.
