SAA event in General Escobedo, San Genaro area, Mexico on Sun 19th February 2023

A young man was tricked with the false promise of selling a cell phone, lured to a meeting point, and shot to death so his motorcycle and money could be stolen. Brayan Fidencio “N”, 22, was sentenced to 31 years and 6 months in prison for the crime, a decision that was upheld after a retrial, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Nuevo León reported.

The judge upheld the conviction for aggravated homicide and robbery with violence, considering that the state authorities fully proved the defendant's responsibility with documentary, expert, scientific and testimonial evidence, rejecting the defense's arguments.

The events occurred on February 19, 2023, in the San Genaro neighborhood, in General Escobedo.

The victim, Maximinio Cortes, 24, went on his motorcycle to the place where he was supposedly going to buy a cell phone.

There he was intercepted by the accused, who was carrying a firearm and was accompanied by another individual; after hitting him, he shot him until he died.

After the attack, the assailants seized the motorcycle and the money the victim was carrying, 8,500 pesos, and fled the scene.

As part of the sentence, the judge ordered the internment in a State Social Reintegration Center and the payment of damages, the amount of which will be defined in the execution stage of the sentence.

The authority recalled that in April 2023, AEI agents arrested the now-convicted man by means of an arrest warrant.

In July 2025 he was convicted in the first instance and, after his defense appealed, the retrial confirmed the ruling.
