A confrontation between gunmen from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel ( CJNG ) and members of the Civil and National Guard left one gunman dead, two wounded, and two arrested in the municipality of Madero , Michoacán . The events occurred in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2026.

According to the official report from the security corporations, the intervention stemmed from a citizen complaint made by residents of the town of El Zangarro , who alerted the authorities about the movement of heavily armed people in the vicinity of the town.

In response to the report, officers from the Civil Guard and the National Guard launched a joint search operation. During reconnaissance patrols, the officers located a white pickup truck without license plates. Its occupants accelerated and acted evasively upon noticing the approaching patrols.

Law enforcement initiated a pursuit that initially extended along the Villa Madero–Etúcuaro highway and later onto the rural stretch connecting the communities of Lomas de Cancho and El Zangarro . The chase ended when the suspects attempted to break through a security cordon established at a previous Civil Guard checkpoint.

According to the official report, when cornered, one of the occupants of the pickup truck pointed a firearm directly at the police officers, forcing the officers to return fire . The truck continued erratically for another kilometer before coming to a complete stop.

As they approached the vehicle to take control of the scene, the officers secured four people who were inside the vehicle, identified as Isaí G., Amy Gabriela D., Oliver Alejandro V. and Carlos Manuel P.

After conducting the technical inspection of the unit, the following findings were confirmed:

- In the passenger seat was found the lifeless body of a man who, so far, remains unidentified.

- Next to the body, a Ruger brand pistol with its respective loaded magazine was secured.

- Two of the detained crew members, Oliver Alejandro V. and Carlos Manuel P., had gunshot wounds, so they were taken under police custody to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

- In the back seats of the vehicle, various articles of clothing and vests with initials alluding to the criminal structure of the CJNG were found.

The area of the shooting was cordoned off to preserve ballistic evidence. Minutes later, forensic personnel from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) arrived at the scene to formally remove the body, collect evidence, and secure the vehicle involved.

The detainees who were unharmed were transferred and placed at the disposal of the competent Public Prosecutor to determine their legal status, while the ministerial authorities continue with the corresponding investigations to clarify all the facts.
