BREAKING: Armed group attacks biomass power plant in Pattani, sets off three explosions An armed group of more than 10 men reportedly stormed a biomass power plant in southern Thailand's Pattani Province early on 9 June, forcing security guards from the premises before triggering three explosions. The incident occurred at about 12:40 a.m. at a biomass power facility in Ban Maprao Ton Diao, Lipa Sango subdistrict, Nong Chik district. According to initial investigations, more than 10 assailants, their faces concealed and armed with military-style weapons, emerged from a forested area behind the plant and climbed over the perimeter fence. They allegedly threatened security personnel and employees, ordering them to leave through the front gate before planting explosive devices near the facility’s power distribution system. Three explosions were heard in quick succession, causing alarm among nearby residents. The attackers then fled into the surrounding forest under cover of darkness. No injuries or fatalities had been reported as of Tuesday morning. Following the attack, troops from the 43rd Ranger Task Force and other security agencies moved quickly to secure the area. Authorities established checkpoints and roadblocks around the site to prevent further incidents and to track down those responsible. Officials are currently assessing the damage, collecting forensic evidence and reviewing witness accounts as part of the investigation. Security forces have also increased surveillance and protective measures in the area to reassure residents and local businesses. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the perpetrators or announced a motive for the attack. The investigation remains ongoing. #Thailandnews #Pattani
