Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim After Clash With Terrorists in Kwara

Troops of Operation Savannah Shield have rescued a kidnapped victim following a gun battle with suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Security sources told Zagazola  that the operation was conducted on June 10 by troops of the 22 Brigade deployed at Patrol Base Gbugbu.

According to the sources, the troops carried out a fighting patrol to a suspected terrorist camp located at Ile-Ire community when they came into contact with the armed criminals.

A firefight ensued, forcing the terrorists to abandon the camp and flee into the surrounding area.

During the operation, the troops successfully rescued one kidnapped victim held by the criminals.

The troops have continued to dominate the area and maintain pressure on the fleeing suspects as part of ongoing efforts to rid the region of criminal elements.
