On June 9, Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested three members of the Jonab force, identified as Ajibar Gazi (47), Rabiul Gazi (44) and Faruk Hossain (36), along with weapons and ammunition on charges of involvement in various crimes in the Sundarbans in the area adjacent to Kalinchi Sluice Gate in Shyamnagar Upazila (Sub-District) of Satkhira District, reports Prothom Alo. They were involved in robberies, hostage-taking of fishermen in the Sundarbans area for a long time and extorting ransom. BCG stated that, based on information provided by the detainees, a single-barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered during operation in the area adjacent to Harintana Canal under Shyamnagar Police Station.
