SAA event in Durango, Casablanca area, Mexico on Mon 8th June 2026

Members of the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and the State Police carried out an expert deployment following a clash with armed civilians in the town of Casablanca, municipality of Durango, Durango, which occurred between the night of June 8 and the early hours of June 9, 2026.

The armed aggression sparked a controlled skirmish on the highway connecting to Parral, Chihuahua, a strategic area affected by incursions from criminal cells linked to factions in the region. According to information gathered by our correspondent in Casablanca, the direct attack sought to halt the federal advance in this drug trafficking hub, which prompted the subsequent arrival of a company of Army special forces to contain the urgent escalation of violence.

The Security Cabinet confirmed the capture of six individuals in the perimeter. The detainees were formally identified as three men and three women, whose civilian identities remain under expert reserve for the compilation of the corresponding investigation file before the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic.

The official tally of seized items includes two suitcases with cash, two handguns, seven magazines, 100 rounds, four communication radios, 16 vehicles—four of them with artisanal armor—a Barrett rifle, a machine gun, 10 long arms, 15 grenades, magazines, rounds, and a motorcycle. The scene and the damaged units were placed under the custody of federal ministerial authorities for the required expert examinations.
