A suspected criminal was killed during a confrontation with State Police officers near the town of La Bebelama de Romero, in the Las Tapias district , south of Culiacán .
The confrontation occurred on the night of Tuesday, June 9 , when members of the Special Operations Group (GOES) of the State Preventive Police were patrolling the aforementioned town, on the border with the town of El Talayote .
Allegedly, the police officers spotted several trucks on one of the dirt roads and gave chase , which ended in a confrontation .
During the shootout , one of the alleged criminals was killed at the scene, while the rest managed to escape.
After the death of the alleged gunman was confirmed , personnel from the Forensic Medical Service and experts from the State Attorney General's Office went to the scene, along with members of the Investigative Police and military personnel , to carry out the procedures .
Authorities are expected to release details about the confrontation in the coming hours , during which several vehicles were allegedly seized.
