SAA event in Sinaloa, El Fuerte, Charay area, Mexico on Wed 10th June 2026

A man was found shot to death in the early hours of Wednesday at the entrance to the Charay district , in the municipality of El Fuerte . The incident triggered a large mobilization of security forces from all three levels of government. 

Although the victim's identity has not been officially confirmed, unofficial sources and information gathered indicate that it is Jesús Omar Ibarra Félix , better known as " El Chuta ," identified for years as the alleged leader of a criminal organization with a presence in the region.

The discovery was made minutes before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, on the Los Mochis-Choix state highway, right at the main entrance of the Charay district , where the district's emblematic letters are located.

According to information provided by authorities, the victim was found lying next to the letters. He was described as a thin man with a beard, wearing jeans and a black t-shirt. He was barefoot and showed visible signs of violence , including both bruises and gunshot wounds.

However, unofficial sources identified the deceased as Jesús Omar Ibarra Félix , alias " El Chuta ," who allegedly had multiple gunshot wounds to different parts of his body. Furthermore, his partner went to the location where he was found and will go to the Deputy Attorney General's Office this morning to identify the body.

The news began to gain traction because, in the preceding hours, rumors had been circulating about the alleged death of a figure linked to criminal activities in the region. However, up to that point, no authority had confirmed the information, and it all appeared to be just rumors spread in various local circles.

It wasn't until the early hours of Wednesday that the body was abandoned at the Charay sign , a community where he allegedly lived and held influence.

After receiving the report through the emergency numbers, officers from the El Fuerte Municipal Public Security and Transit Secretariat went to the scene to verify the information. Upon confirming the presence of the deceased , they proceeded to cordon off the area and restrict access to preserve the scene.

Minutes later, specialized experts and investigative agents from the Regional Deputy Prosecutor's Office for the Northern Zone arrived, who began the corresponding procedures to document the scene, collect clues and gather evidence to integrate the investigation file , all quickly and with great secrecy.

Jesús Omar Ibarra Félix was known in the region by the alias " El Chuta ." Various reports and allegations identified him as the alleged leader of the Chuta Special Forces (FECH), a group that U.S. authorities attribute to armed operations and activities related to a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

In fact, in March 2026, the United States authorities included his name in a federal indictment in which he was accused of alleged crimes related to drug trafficking, arms trafficking and support of criminal activities .

It should be mentioned that at the moment, the State Attorney General's Office has not issued an official statement confirming the identity of the man found dead in Charay .
