On 5 June 2026, an unexploded cluster-type remnant of war detonated in Wadi Al Salam cemetery in Najaf city (Al Najaf), injuring a brigadier general (wearing civilian clothes) from Maysan and his wife while they were visiting the cemetery. Police forces opened an investigation and formed an investigative committee. 2 injured. There were no fatalities.
