On 31 May 2026, a bomb exploded at the Perikanan residential complex on Walter Mongonsidi Road, Biak town (Biak Numfor regency, Papua province). 5 people were killed, and 3 people went missing. Dozens of houses were damaged. The authorities claimed it was a remnant of the Second World War. 19 people were injured and hospitalized. One of the injured passed away in the RSUD Biak on 2 June 2026. In total, 6 people died.
