In a joint operation based on the exchange of intelligence information between Mexico and the United States , federal and state forces managed to intercept an aircraft and seize a shipment of drugs , vehicles and high-caliber weapons in the municipality of Mexicali , Baja California , which according to the information circulating was from Los Rusos of the La Mayiza faction in the Sinaloa Cartel ( CDS ).

The coordinated operational deployment took place last Friday, June 5, 2026. The intervention was the result of analysis work by the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) in close collaboration with US security agencies, which made it possible to trace the illicit flight path of an aircraft that intended to enter the border airspace.

The National Center for Airspace Surveillance and Protection ( CENAVI ) detected the target in real time, triggering the activation of interception protocols. To force the aircraft to land, the Mexican Air Force immediately deployed a squadron consisting of two T-6C+ interceptor aircraft and a UH-60M Black Hawk tactical helicopter .

Once the aircraft landed, an interagency task force secured the perimeter. The following agencies participated in the coordinated field operation:

Mexican Army and Mexican Air Force
National guard
Federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC)
Attorney General's Office (FGR)
State and municipal police of Baja California
After taking control of the landing zone and completing the corresponding inspections, federal and local law enforcement forces seized the following logistical assets:

- A single-engine Cessna 206 type airplane
- Three land vehicles
- 24 kilograms of cocaine packaged for distribution.
- 24 loaded chargers
- 377 usable cartridges of various calibers.
- A property that was used as a safe house or receiving point for unloading operations.

According to preliminary calculations released by the Security Cabinet, this seizure represents a direct financial impact of approximately five million pesos against the operational structures of organized crime operating in the northern part of the country.

Both the drugs and the aircraft, weapons and vehicles were transferred under strict security to the facilities of the FGR delegation in Mexicali, where the Federal Public Prosecutor will be in charge of compiling the investigation file and carrying out the corresponding expert analyses.
