Chilpancingo.— Sael Silva Cisneros, a researcher at the Center for Constitutional Studies and Legal Knowledge of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) and an activist for the LGBTTTIQ+ population, was shot to death on Friday night in the municipality of Cuajinicuilapa, in the Costa Chica region of Guerrero.
According to the police report, around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, armed men attacked a bar located on the Acapulco-Pinotepa Nacional federal highway in Oaxaca with gunfire.
On Friday afternoon, Silva Cisneros participated in the seminar Afro-Mexican Dissidences in Guerrero: History, Justice and Rights in the center of Cuajinicuilapa, prior to the attack in which, according to the report of the authorities, another person was injured.
LGBTTTIQ+ groups and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) condemned the murder. “We deeply regret the tragic death of our brother and Afro-Mexican activist Sael Silva Cisneros. Your memory will be a rallying cry for Afro-Mexican youth. We demand justice with a human rights perspective. Black lives matter!” stated the collective Afrocaracolas: Itinerant Knowledge.
For its part, the Orgullo Guerrero collective stated that Silva Cisneros stood out for his community leadership, his commitment to social causes, and his roots.
“Those who knew him remember him as an upright, brilliant, supportive and approachable person, convinced that Afro-Mexican communities and peoples deserve better living conditions, recognition and justice.
