Five local residents, including three students, were killed and about 15 others were injured due to an airstrike by the military junta's forces in Mahlaing Township, Mandalay Region, according to ground sources.

The casualties occurred when the military junta's forces coming from Tad'oo airbase used two jet fighters to drop four bombs on Thayet Kaung Pin Village in the northern part of Mahlaing Township yesterday, June 5.

The airstrike was carried out at school dismissal time and the bombs were dropped onto a snack shop where students were shopping, killing the couple who owned the snack shop and three students, and injuring many others, an official from the Mahlaing People's Information Network told Mizzima.
