By: Zagazola Makama

Troops of Sector 1 of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested three suspects in separate incidents involving assault and public disturbance in Jos North and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau.

Security sources disclosed that the arrests were made following swift responses by troops to reports of criminal activities in the affected areas.

According to the sources, troops deployed under Sector 1 responded at about 8:00 a.m. on June 6 to a report of hoodlums operating around the ECWA Staff area in Jos North Local Government Area.

Upon arrival at the scene, the troops arrested two suspects identified as Rin Gyang Meshak, 27, and another individual in connection with the alleged assault of one Kefas John.

The suspects and the victim were subsequently handed over to the Keystone Laranto Division of the police for further investigation and necessary action.

In a separate incident later the same day, troops arrested one Yakubu Garba, 22, for allegedly causing public disturbance in Jengre village of Bassa Local Government Area.

The suspect was apprehended at about 9:00 p.m. following reports of disorderly conduct in the community.

Security sources said the suspect was handed over to the Keystone security outfit for further investigation.

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order across Plateau.

Authorities urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts aimed at ensuring peace and public safety in the state.
