He had moved to Iran after the collapse of the previous government. He returned to Afghanistan after several years. Since his coming back he has been serving as an imam at a mosque in Kabul. Individuals affiliated with Mawlawi Amanuddin, the Taliban Governor of Helmand, reportedly took him from his house.
